What is the KIDS Arena?

The kids arena is the home for all kids who want to play at Worth, but have not reached the minimum age for the regular contests yet.

Who can play?

Contests are open to all kids under and including the age of 13. There is no minimum age, but we tend to think that school age is a good age to start. When you hit your 14th birthday, you cannot play in KIDS contests anymore.

I am under 14, so can I still play?

Yes - if you have your parents' consent they can set up your account for you. At least one of your parents must have an existing Worth account.

Can I get my own account?

Absolutely! All kids will have their own Worth accounts, where they can have their own profile and avatars.

Can I just make my own account?

You can make an account together with Mum or Dad. The parent or guardian in question will be responsible for all your actions and submissions done from that account, like posting of contest entries and entry comments.

How do Mum or Dad make my account?

First they open a normal account. Then they send a private message to one of the Arena Admins (Kimbomac, Anni) with the following information:

  • Parent's Username
  • Parent's email address
  • Child's Username
  • Child's date of birth
Child's account must be approved before you can enter any contests.

I am a teacher. Can I let my pupils play?

At the moment, no - unless the parent wants to make a Worth account too. Kids need one parent to have a Worth account. But we're in the testing phase still. If this works out, we may find a solution for this if you get written permission from all parents. Be patient and ask us again later.

I have siblings who want to play. Do they need their own account?

Yes. Their own account and their own email addresses! Parents can have the emails forwarded to their own email account.

Can I now play in contests?

Yes. You can participate in all contests in the KIDS Arena, which belongs to the Multimedia Topic.

How do I play in a contest?

We announce a contest in the KIDS Forum. If you want to play, your parent has to sign you up for it. You cannot just submit - you have to let your parent sign up! As soon as you sign up, you can submit to the contest. You can also still sign up when submission is open. A link to the signup thread will be in the contest rules.

What contests are there for kids?

There will be all kinds! We will concentrate on Illustration, Photography and Multimedia at first, because these are the areas of art kids are most active in. But it really depends your enthusiasm. Suggest something - we will consider it!

Can I play in other contests at Worth?

No. You can only play in the KIDS Arena if you're under 13. If you are exactly 13 years of age, you're in a wondrous phase: You can play both KIDS and all other contests!

Can I shoebox (use older artwork of mine)?

Usually, you can, unless the contest rules forbid it.

Can I trace pictures for contests?

No. Please do not trace pictures. We want you to come up with your own unique designs and ideas! You may get inspiration from other pictures, but please do not directly trace them..

I drew a picture on paper. Can I scan it and color it in Photoshop?

Yes! You may color your pictures anyway you want as long as you do all the work yourself.

How much are Mum or Dad allowed to help?

Assistance by parents should be minimal. For example, a parent can set the camera ISO, shutter speed, etc but the child will be the one who composes and releases the shutter. In Illustration, they can help scanning or photographing the entry. If you have a specific question about how much is too much help, please message an Admin.

Can I submit more than one entry?

Yes. The limit is three, though.

How about credits?

Just the same as in the other Arenas. KIDS contests will be handled like Beginners contest and cost 2 - 5 credits. The prize jackpots will vary based on the entry fee. But you do not have to have credits to play. Just like any other member, you may put your entry up for sponsorship.

What if I sign up but something happens and I can't submit to the contest?

That is absolutely ok. We understand that your homework and chores come first. We only ask that you sign up so we can put your name on the "approved players" list. There is no obligation to enter.

Voting

Who can vote on my entries?

Everyone, just like in every other contest. The Community may vote on KIDS contests just like on regular contests. There will be no DQ for quality, though. The community is called to vote fairly on the kids and apply the voting scale. Still, voters should keep in mind they are kids. Leave constructive and encouraging comments. Negative comments will be pursued as adamantly as in regular contests, and even more.

Can my family vote for me?

We prefer they don't. Parents should not vote in the contest their kid has submitted to.

Can I vote?

Yes, you can. Your parents are expected to instruct you in proper/ fair voting.

Can I vote on regular contests?

Yes. Again: Let your Mum or Dad explain to you how the voting scale is applied and how to vote fairly.

General Site Rules and Behavior

What are the general rules here for me?

The same as for everyone else. Be a good sport, be fair, and be polite, and you will get along quite nicely. All of Worth's regular rules on behavior and content apply. Parents will be held responsible for their kids' actions. This is important. The same rules that are true for anyone apply to the kids. Parents are expected to explain the rules to their children.

What if I mess up?

The parent that signed you up and applied for your account is responsible for all of your actions.

What if I REALLY mess up?

Then we can ban you like everyone else. And your parent may be banned too if you are really bad. So behave.

Is there anything different, then?

Yes. The kids' account will be muted for the forums. That means: No forum activity for you. Just contests. Forums are reserved for the grown-ups.
